Job Brief

As an Orthotic/Prosthetic Practitioner, you will play a crucial role in improving patients’ quality of life by designing, measuring, fitting, and adapting orthopedic braces, prostheses, and appliances for individuals with disabling conditions. This position requires a strong understanding of biomechanics, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with healthcare professionals. A successful candidate will possess relevant clinical experience and demonstrate proficiency in patient assessment and orthotic/prosthetic fabrication.

Responsibilities

  • Design and fabricate custom orthoses, prostheses, and braces tailored to individual patient needs.
  • Conduct thorough patient evaluations to assess mobility limitations and therapeutic requirements.
  • Measure and fit orthotic and prosthetic devices, ensuring optimal comfort and functionality.
  • Adapt and modify existing devices based on patient feedback and clinical assessments.
  • Educate patients and their families on the proper use and care of orthotic and prosthetic devices.
  • Collaborate with physicians, physical therapists, and occupational therapists to develop integrated care plans.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in compliance with healthcare regulations.
  • Stay updated on advancements in orthotic and prosthetic technology and best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Orthotics and Prosthetics or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Certification from the American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics & Pedorthics (ABC) or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in designing and fitting orthotic and prosthetic devices.
  • Strong knowledge of anatomy, biomechanics, and materials used in orthotic and prosthetic fabrication.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective patient interaction.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Proficient in using CAD software and other design tools specific to the field.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification.
