Job Brief
The Occupational Therapist Assistant (OTA) plays a vital role in supporting licensed occupational therapists in the delivery of effective occupational therapy treatments and procedures. Responsibilities
- Assist occupational therapists in the execution of individualized treatment plans and therapeutic interventions.
- Conduct therapeutic activities and exercises under the supervision of a licensed occupational therapist.
- Document patient progress and report any changes in patient health status to the supervising occupational therapist.
- Prepare and maintain treatment areas and equipment to ensure a safe and effective therapeutic environment.
- Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding therapy goals and home exercise programs.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to enhance patient care and overall treatment outcomes.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay updated on best practices in occupational therapy.
Requirements
- Completion of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
- Current certification or licensure as an Occupational Therapist Assistant as required by state regulations.
- Strong knowledge of occupational therapy principles, techniques, and patient care practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and team members.
- Ability to document patient progress accurately and maintain confidentiality.
- Physical stamina to assist patients with mobility and rehabilitation exercises.
- Proficient in using standard office software and therapy-related equipment.
