Job Brief
As a Nuclear Medical Technologist, you will play a vital role in the healthcare field by preparing, administering, and measuring radioactive isotopes for therapeutic, diagnostic, and tracer studies. This position requires a strong understanding of radioisotope equipment and the ability to calculate precise doses for administration by radiologists. You will conduct essential studies, including blood volume, red cell survival, and fat absorption, while ensuring patient safety and compliance with radiation protocols.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and administer radioactive isotopes for diagnostic imaging and therapeutic procedures.
- Measure radioactivity levels and ensure accurate dosing of radioactive materials.
- Calculate and prepare stock solutions of radioactive materials for clinical use.
- Conduct blood volume, red cell survival, and fat absorption studies utilizing standard laboratory techniques.
- Monitor patient responses and manage radiation exposure in accordance with safety regulations.
- Maintain and calibrate radioisotope equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Document all procedures and results accurately in patient records and comply with regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure high-quality patient care.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology or a related field.
- Certification and/or licensure as a Nuclear Medical Technologist (NMTCB, ARRT) preferred.
- Strong understanding of radioactive materials and radiation safety protocols.
- Experience operating and maintaining nuclear imaging equipment.
- Ability to perform accurate calculations for radioactive dosages.
- Excellent communication skills and patient interaction abilities.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Prior experience in a clinical or hospital setting is advantageous.
