Job Brief

The Nuclear Cardiology Technologist plays a critical role in the healthcare sector by preparing, administering, and measuring radioactive isotopes for diagnostic, therapeutic, and tracer studies. This position requires expertise in operating various radioisotope equipment and a strong understanding of radiation safety protocols. Candidates should possess a solid background in nuclear medicine or cardiovascular technology, along with excellent patient care skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and administer radioactive isotopes for diagnostic imaging and therapeutic purposes.
  • Measure and evaluate the distribution of radioisotopes in patients during various studies.
  • Prepare stock solutions of radioactive materials and calculate appropriate doses for administration.
  • Conduct blood volume, red cell survival, and fat absorption studies following established procedures.
  • Operate and maintain radioisotope equipment in compliance with safety standards.
  • Monitor patient reactions and ensure adherence to radiation safety protocols.
  • Assist radiologists in interpreting imaging results and provide support during procedures.
  • Document procedures, results, and any relevant patient information accurately for medical records.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology, Cardiovascular Technology, or a related field.
  • Certification as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist (NMTCB) or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in nuclear cardiology or a similar healthcare setting.
  • Strong knowledge of radioactive materials and their applications in medical diagnostics.
  • Familiarity with radiation safety regulations and patient care standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients and healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in using electronic medical records (EMR) systems and other relevant software.
