Job Brief
The Nuclear Cardiology Technologist plays a critical role in the healthcare sector by preparing, administering, and measuring radioactive isotopes for diagnostic, therapeutic, and tracer studies. Responsibilities
- Prepare and administer radioactive isotopes for diagnostic imaging and therapeutic purposes.
- Measure and evaluate the distribution of radioisotopes in patients during various studies.
- Prepare stock solutions of radioactive materials and calculate appropriate doses for administration.
- Conduct blood volume, red cell survival, and fat absorption studies following established procedures.
- Operate and maintain radioisotope equipment in compliance with safety standards.
- Monitor patient reactions and ensure adherence to radiation safety protocols.
- Assist radiologists in interpreting imaging results and provide support during procedures.
- Document procedures, results, and any relevant patient information accurately for medical records.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology, Cardiovascular Technology, or a related field.
- Certification as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist (NMTCB) or equivalent.
- Proven experience in nuclear cardiology or a similar healthcare setting.
- Strong knowledge of radioactive materials and their applications in medical diagnostics.
- Familiarity with radiation safety regulations and patient care standards.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients and healthcare professionals.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in using electronic medical records (EMR) systems and other relevant software.
