Job Brief
The Narcotics Detective is responsible for conducting in-depth investigations related to suspected violations of federal, state, or local drug laws. Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough investigations into drug-related offenses, including trafficking and distribution of narcotics.
- Gather and analyze evidence, testimony, and intelligence to build strong cases against suspects.
- Collaborate with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies to coordinate drug enforcement efforts.
- Prepare detailed reports and documentation of investigative findings for use in court proceedings.
- Testify in court as a witness in criminal cases, providing expert testimony regarding investigations.
- Engage in undercover operations as necessary to gather evidence on suspected narcotics activities.
- Stay updated on drug trends, laws, and policies to enhance investigative strategies and public safety.
- Develop and maintain relationships with community organizations and stakeholders to promote drug prevention initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Forensic Science, or a related field preferred.
- Proven experience as a law enforcement officer or investigator, with a focus on narcotics enforcement.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local drug laws and regulations.
- Excellent investigative skills, including evidence collection and analysis.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Valid driver’s license and the ability to pass background checks and drug screenings.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to prepare and present reports effectively.
- Certification in criminal investigations or narcotics enforcement is a plus.
