We are seeking a talented Music Copyist to join our creative team. The ideal candidate will have experience in preparing high-quality sheet music for instrumental and vocal performances, working closely with composers, conductors, and musicians. Key responsibilities include transcribing musical scores, adjusting arrangements, and ensuring accuracy in notation. Proficiency in music notation software and a deep understanding of music theory are essential for success in this role.
Responsibilities
- Transcribe and notate musical scores for various ensembles, including orchestras, bands, and choirs.
- Collaborate with composers and conductors to create original arrangements and adaptations.
- Ensure accuracy and clarity in musical notation, dynamics, and articulations.
- Prepare and distribute parts for musicians, ensuring timely access to materials.
- Review and edit scores for performance readiness, addressing any discrepancies.
- Assist in rehearsals by providing on-the-spot notational support and adjustments.
- Maintain organized archives of scores and parts for easy retrieval and reference.
- Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in music notation technology.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Music Copyist or in a similar role within the music industry.
- Strong proficiency in music notation software such as Sibelius, Finale, or Dorico.
- Extensive knowledge of music theory, orchestration, and arrangement techniques.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality work under deadlines.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with musicians and composers.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- A degree in Music, Music Composition, or a related field is preferred.
