Job Brief
The Mining Earth Moving Equipment Operator is responsible for operating heavy machinery, including scoops, shovels, and buckets, to excavate and load loose materials in surface mining sites. Responsibilities
- Operate and control heavy earthmoving machinery to excavate, load, and transport materials efficiently.
- Conduct pre-operational checks and maintain equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
- Follow mining site safety protocols and adhere to all regulations to minimize risk and promote a safe working environment.
- Collaborate with site supervisors and team members to coordinate operations and achieve production targets.
- Monitor equipment performance and report any malfunctions or issues to maintenance personnel.
- Maintain accurate records of materials moved and equipment usage as required by operational guidelines.
- Assist in training new operators on equipment operation and safety procedures.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications in heavy equipment operation are preferred.
- Proven experience operating earthmoving equipment in a mining or construction environment.
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in mining operations.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics related to equipment operation.
- Excellent physical stamina and ability to work in various weather conditions.
- Valid driver’s license and relevant equipment operating certifications (e.g., OSHA, MSHA).
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team setting.
