Job Brief
The Metal Die Finisher plays a vital role in the manufacturing process, responsible for analyzing specifications, laying out metal stock, and setting up and operating machine tools. This professional fits and assembles parts to create and repair dies, cutting tools, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and machinists’ hand tools. Responsibilities
- Analyze technical specifications and blueprints to determine finishing requirements.
- Lay out metal stock and prepare materials for machining operations.
- Set up, operate, and maintain various machine tools including lathes, mills, and grinders.
- Fit and assemble parts to manufacture and repair cutting tools and dies.
- Inspect finished products to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.
- Utilize measuring instruments to verify dimensions and tolerances.
- Perform routine maintenance on equipment and troubleshoot machining issues.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to improve processes and efficiencies.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in machining preferred.
- Proven experience as a Metal Die Finisher or in a similar role within the manufacturing industry.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
- Strong skills in operating and maintaining manual and CNC machine tools.
- Familiarity with finishing techniques, including polishing, grinding, and honing.
- Ability to use precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
