Job Brief
The Material Handler plays a crucial role in the efficient movement of freight, stock, luggage, and other materials within a warehouse or distribution center. Responsibilities
- Manually move freight, stock, or luggage to designated areas using appropriate handling techniques.
- Load and unload materials from trucks, pallets, or storage containers as needed.
- Sort and organize materials for efficient retrieval and storage.
- Inspect materials for damage or discrepancies and report issues to supervisors.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area to ensure a safe environment.
- Assist with inventory management processes, including counting and tracking stock levels.
- Follow safety protocols and guidelines to minimize risk of injury.
- Collaborate with team members to meet daily operational goals and deadlines.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Proven experience in a material handling, warehouse, or general labor role.
- Strong physical stamina and ability to lift heavy items (up to 50 lbs.) regularly.
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems and inventory control processes.
- Basic understanding of safety regulations and best practices in material handling.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
- Valid forklift certification or willingness to obtain certification is a plus.
