Job Brief
As a Marine Rigger, you will be responsible for setting up and repairing rigging systems for a variety of projects, including construction, manufacturing, logging, and marine environments. You will ensure the safety and efficiency of lifting and moving heavy loads using specialized equipment. Ideal candidates will possess hands-on experience in rigging, excellent problem-solving skills, and a strong understanding of safety protocols within the maritime industry.
Responsibilities
- Install, repair, and maintain rigging systems for ships, construction sites, and entertainment venues.
- Inspect rigging equipment and ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
- Calculate load weights and determine the appropriate rigging methods for various applications.
- Collaborate with engineers and project managers to develop effective rigging plans.
- Utilize cranes, hoists, and other lifting devices to move materials and equipment safely.
- Train and supervise junior riggers and other crew members in safe rigging practices.
- Conduct safety audits and risk assessments to minimize hazards on job sites.
- Maintain accurate records of rigging operations and equipment maintenance.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Marine Rigger or in a similar role within the maritime or construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of rigging techniques, equipment, and safety regulations.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Certifications in rigging and lifting operations (e.g., NCCCO, OSHA) preferred.
- Excellent physical stamina and ability to work in various environmental conditions.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to operate heavy machinery is a plus.
