Job Brief

As a Manufacturing Orthopedic Technologist, you will play a crucial role in constructing, maintaining, and repairing a variety of medical supportive devices including braces, orthotics, prosthetic devices, joints, and arch supports. This position requires a solid understanding of orthotic and prosthetic fabrication techniques, as well as proficiency in the use of tools and materials specific to the industry. Ideal candidates will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Construct and customize orthotic and prosthetic devices based on patient specifications and medical prescriptions.
  • Maintain and repair existing medical supportive devices to ensure optimal functionality and patient safety.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to assess patient needs and recommend appropriate devices.
  • Utilize advanced manufacturing techniques, including 3D printing and CAD software, to improve device design and production efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements in the fabrication of orthopedic devices.
  • Conduct fittings and adjustments for patients to ensure proper fit and function of devices.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, materials, and technologies to enhance product offerings and processes.
  • Document and maintain accurate records of device designs, specifications, and modifications.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s degree in Orthotic and Prosthetic Technology preferred.
  • Proven experience in the fabrication and repair of orthopedic devices.
  • Familiarity with CAD software and other design tools.
  • Strong knowledge of materials used in orthotic and prosthetic manufacturing.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and communicate with multidisciplinary healthcare professionals.
  • Certification from a recognized orthotic and prosthetic organization is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
