Job Brief

As a Manual Lathe Machinist, you will set up and operate various machine tools to create precision metal parts and instruments. Your role will involve fabricating, modifying, and repairing mechanical instruments and industrial machines, utilizing your expertise in mechanics, mathematics, and machining procedures. Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate manual lathes, milling machines, and other machine tools to produce precision parts.
  • Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics to determine specifications and tolerances.
  • Fabricate and modify parts for mechanical instruments and industrial machines as per project requirements.
  • Conduct quality control inspections of finished products, ensuring compliance with specifications.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on machining equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Utilize measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to verify part dimensions.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to safety standards and best practices in machining.
  • Collaborate with engineers and other team members to improve production processes and enhance product quality.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical school training in machining or related field preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Manual Lathe Machinist or similar role in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of machining techniques, metal properties, and mechanical principles.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
  • Experience with precision measuring instruments and tools.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating effective problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices in machining operations.
  • Certifications in machining or related fields are a plus (e.g., CNC programming, tool making).
