Job Brief
We are seeking a skilled Lumberjack to join our team in forest management and timber harvesting operations. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in tree felling and forest maintenance, utilizing axes and chainsaws with precision. A strong understanding of tree characteristics, cutting techniques, and safety protocols is essential for minimizing damage to surrounding flora and ensuring operational efficiency. Responsibilities
- Operate chainsaws and axes to fell trees safely and efficiently, ensuring proper direction of fall.
- Assess tree health, species, and characteristics to determine optimal cutting techniques.
- Implement safety measures and adhere to forestry regulations to minimize risks during operations.
- Clear felled trees and debris from the job site to maintain a safe working environment.
- Assist in the maintenance of equipment and tools, ensuring they are in good working condition.
- Collaborate with team members to plan and execute timber harvesting activities.
- Monitor and report on forest health and growth patterns for effective resource management.
- Participate in training and development programs to enhance skills and knowledge in forestry practices.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Lumberjack or in a similar forestry role.
- Strong knowledge of tree species, felling techniques, and forest ecology.
- Experience operating chainsaws, axes, and other forestry equipment safely.
- Physical fitness and ability to work in various weather conditions.
- Certification in first aid and chainsaw safety preferred.
- Familiarity with environmental regulations and best practices in sustainable forestry.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to job sites.
