Job Brief
The Long Wall Plow Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining longwall mining equipment to efficiently extract coal and other minerals from underground mines. This role requires a skilled operator with experience in underground mining operations, proficiency in machinery handling, and adherence to safety protocols. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Responsibilities
- Operate longwall plow machinery to facilitate the extraction process in underground mining operations.
- Monitor and adjust equipment settings to optimize production rates and ensure safety compliance.
- Conduct regular inspections and maintenance on machinery to ensure optimal performance and safety standards.
- Collaborate with mining engineers and other operators to plan and execute mining strategies effectively.
- Implement safety measures and protocols to minimize risks and enhance workplace safety.
- Document production data and report any equipment malfunctions or safety issues to supervisory personnel.
- Train and mentor junior operators on equipment operation and safety procedures.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in mining operations is preferred.
- Proven experience as a Long Wall Plow Operator or similar role in underground mining.
- Strong knowledge of mining equipment operations, safety regulations, and maintenance practices.
- Ability to operate heavy machinery and tools with precision and care.
- Valid certification in operating mining equipment, such as a Mine Operator’s Certificate.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a team-oriented environment.
- Physical stamina and strength to perform manual tasks and work in confined spaces.
