Job Brief
The Logging Shovel Operator is responsible for efficiently operating logging machinery, including tractors and wheeled vehicles equipped with specialized attachments. This role requires experience in felling trees, skidding, loading, and unloading logs, as well as clearing brush and stumps. Responsibilities
- Operate logging tractors and wheeled vehicles to fell trees and facilitate logging operations.
- Utilize attachments such as bulldozer blades, frontal shears, and grapples to perform various logging tasks.
- Skid, load, unload, and stack logs efficiently to ensure productivity and safety.
- Perform stump pulling and brush clearing using appropriate logging machinery.
- Conduct routine maintenance and inspections of logging equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Adhere to safety regulations and best practices to maintain a safe working environment.
- Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively to coordinate logging operations.
- Monitor environmental conditions and adjust operations accordingly to minimize impact.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Logging Shovel Operator or similar role within the forestry industry.
- Technical proficiency in operating heavy machinery and logging equipment.
- Knowledge of logging practices, safety standards, and environmental regulations.
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) preferred, depending on company requirements.
- Ability to work in physically demanding conditions and adapt to various terrains.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
