Job Brief
The Logging Flatbed Truck Driver is responsible for safely operating a tractor-trailer combination or a truck with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) of at least 26,001 pounds. This role involves transporting logs and other materials to designated locations while adhering to all traffic regulations and safety protocols. The ideal candidate will possess a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) and have experience in flatbed trucking, focusing on efficiency, safety, and customer service.
Responsibilities
- Operate and drive a flatbed truck to transport logs and heavy materials to various locations.
- Safely secure loads using proper strapping and tarping techniques to ensure safe delivery.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with regulations.
- Adhere to all local, state, and federal traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, mileage, and delivery time as required by law.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and clients regarding delivery schedules and issues.
- May assist in unloading materials at delivery sites.
- Report any mechanical issues or maintenance needs to management promptly.
Requirements
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements.
- Proven experience as a flatbed truck driver, preferably in the logging industry.
- Strong understanding of vehicle safety and maintenance procedures.
- Ability to operate heavy machinery and equipment safely.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with electronic logging devices (ELDs) and DOT regulations.
- Ability to work long hours and adapt to varying schedules.
- Physical capability to lift heavy loads and perform manual tasks as required.
