Job Brief
The Locksmith Helper assists in the installation, maintenance, and repair of locks, keys, and various locking mechanisms. This entry-level position requires a fundamental understanding of locksmithing tools and techniques. The ideal candidate should possess strong attention to detail, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment. Previous experience in a trade or hands-on work position is preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
- Assist locksmiths in the installation and repair of locking systems and security devices.
- Provide support in the maintenance and servicing of locks, keys, and related hardware.
- Furnish tools, materials, and supplies to locksmiths during service calls and repairs.
- Clean and organize work areas, tools, and machinery to ensure a safe and efficient environment.
- Hold materials and tools for locksmiths while they perform installations and repairs.
- Maintain inventory of locksmithing supplies and report shortages to supervisors.
- Follow safety protocols and procedures while working with tools and equipment.
- Assist in diagnosing issues with locks and security systems under the guidance of a licensed locksmith.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Basic understanding of locksmithing tools and techniques.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Prior experience in a trade or hands-on work environment is a plus.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new techniques and tools.
- Valid driver’s license may be required for service calls.
