Job Brief
As a Licensed Optical Dispenser, you will play a crucial role in designing, measuring, fitting, and adapting lenses and frames based on client specifications and optical prescriptions. Your expertise will assist clients in selecting appropriate eyewear and contact lenses while ensuring optimal comfort and functionality. Responsibilities
- Design, measure, fit, and adapt lenses and frames according to written optical prescriptions.
- Assist clients with inserting, removing, and caring for contact lenses.
- Provide frame selection assistance, ensuring styles complement facial and eye measurements.
- Measure customers for the size of eyeglasses and coordinate frames with optical prescriptions.
- Prepare detailed work orders for the optical laboratory containing instructions for grinding and mounting lenses.
- Verify the accuracy of finished lens spectacles before delivery.
- Adjust frame and lens position to ensure a proper fit for clients.
- Shape or reshape frames as necessary to meet client specifications.
Requirements
- Valid state license as an Optical Dispenser or equivalent certification.
- Proven experience as an Optical Dispenser or in a similar role within the optical industry.
- Strong knowledge of optical prescriptions, lens types, and frame styles.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Proficient in using optical measurement tools and equipment.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Familiarity with optical laboratory procedures and practices.
- Basic knowledge of contact lens fitting and care.
