Job Brief
The Lane Marker Installer plays a crucial role in maintaining the safety and visibility of highways, municipal and rural roads, airport runways, and rights-of-way. This position involves installing, repairing, and maintaining lane markers, highway markers, and snow fences while ensuring compliance with safety regulations. Successful candidates will have hands-on experience in road maintenance, possess strong problem-solving skills, and demonstrate attention to detail.
Responsibilities
- Install and maintain lane markers, including reflective and non-reflective applications, on various roadways and runways.
- Repair damaged guard rails and highway markers to enhance roadway safety for vehicles and pedestrians.
- Patch broken or eroded pavement to ensure smooth and safe driving conditions.
- Clear brush and mow vegetation along roadways to maintain visibility and safety.
- Operate snow plows and other equipment for snow removal on highways and airport runways.
- Conduct regular inspections of lane markers and surrounding areas for wear and compliance with safety standards.
- Collaborate with transportation departments to schedule and prioritize maintenance activities.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines while performing installation and maintenance tasks.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional training in road maintenance or construction preferred.
- Proven experience as a lane marker installer or similar role in road maintenance.
- Familiarity with traffic control devices and road safety regulations.
- Ability to operate heavy machinery, including snow plows and maintenance equipment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; CDL may be required.
- Physical stamina and ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
