Job Brief
As a Junior High School Special Education Teacher, you will be responsible for developing and delivering tailored educational programs for middle school students with diverse learning, emotional, or physical disabilities. This role requires a compassionate and adaptive educator who can effectively teach academic, social, and life skills to students with varying needs, including those with visual and hearing impairments or intellectual disabilities. Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) to meet the unique needs of each student.
- Adapt instructional materials and teaching strategies to accommodate various learning styles and disabilities.
- Provide direct instruction in academic subjects, social skills, and life skills while fostering a positive classroom environment.
- Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting teaching methods as necessary to ensure success.
- Collaborate with specialists, parents, and educators to create a supportive network for students.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and communicate regularly with stakeholders regarding progress.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching practices and stay current with special education trends.
- Implement behavioral management strategies to promote a positive learning atmosphere.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Valid teaching certification in Special Education for middle school level.
- Experience working with students with disabilities, including those with emotional, behavioral, and learning challenges.
- Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation.
- Familiarity with assistive technology and adaptive teaching methods.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive educational environment.
- Knowledge of state and federal regulations regarding special education services.
