Job Brief
As a Janitor, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of buildings to ensure a safe and welcoming environment. This role involves performing heavy cleaning duties such as cleaning floors, shampooing carpets, washing walls and windows, and removing debris. Ideal candidates will possess strong attention to detail, a commitment to quality work, and the ability to perform routine maintenance tasks as needed. Previous experience in custodial services or facilities maintenance is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough cleaning of floors, carpets, and upholstery using appropriate cleaning methods and equipment.
- Wash windows, walls, and glass surfaces to maintain a polished appearance.
- Remove rubbish and recyclables from designated areas to ensure cleanliness and compliance with waste management standards.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as tending to furnaces and boilers, and reporting any repair needs to management.
- Clear snow and debris from sidewalks and entrances to maintain safety and accessibility.
- Monitor inventory of cleaning supplies and request replenishment as needed.
- Adhere to health and safety regulations while performing all cleaning tasks.
- Collaborate with maintenance and facilities teams to support overall building upkeep.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant certifications in janitorial services preferred.
- Proven experience as a janitor or in a similar custodial role.
- Familiarity with cleaning chemicals and supplies, as well as proper handling procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
- Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy objects, as required.
- Basic knowledge of routine maintenance and repair tasks.
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to work independently.
