Job Brief

As an Isotope Technologist, you will play a crucial role in the preparation, administration, and measurement of radioactive isotopes for therapeutic, diagnostic, and tracer studies. Your expertise in using advanced radioisotope equipment will ensure accurate dosing and patient safety. Candidates should possess a strong background in radiology or a related field, with demonstrated skills in handling radioactive materials and conducting complex laboratory techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and administer radioactive isotopes for a variety of medical applications, including therapeutic and diagnostic studies.
  • Measure and analyze the outcomes of tracer studies using state-of-the-art radioisotope equipment.
  • Create and maintain stock solutions of radioactive materials while adhering to safety protocols.
  • Calculate and verify doses of radioactive substances to be administered by licensed radiologists.
  • Conduct blood volume, red cell survival, and fat absorption studies following established laboratory techniques.
  • Monitor patient exposure to radiation and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Document and report findings accurately in accordance with laboratory policies.
  • Collaborate with medical professionals to optimize treatment plans based on isotope measurements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Radiologic Technology, Nuclear Medicine, or a related field.
  • Certification as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist or equivalent is preferred.
  • Proven experience in handling radioactive isotopes and operating radioisotope equipment.
  • Strong understanding of radiation safety protocols and laboratory best practices.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail in conducting complex studies.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced medical environment.
  • Effective communication skills for patient interaction and interdisciplinary collaboration.
