Job Brief
As an Internal Revenue Service Agent, you will play a critical role in determining tax liabilities and collecting taxes from individuals and businesses in compliance with federal laws and regulations. Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough investigations to determine tax liabilities for individuals and business entities.
- Analyze financial documents and records to ensure compliance with tax regulations.
- Communicate and negotiate tax obligations with taxpayers and their representatives.
- Prepare and review tax returns and supporting documentation for accuracy.
- Implement tax collection procedures and enforce compliance measures.
- Provide guidance on tax-related inquiries and educate taxpayers on tax laws.
- Collaborate with legal and financial teams to resolve disputes and ensure adherence to regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of all interactions and transactions in accordance with agency standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Proven experience in tax auditing, collection, or a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state tax laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with diverse populations.
- Proficiency in tax preparation software and financial analysis tools.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple cases simultaneously.
- Certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Enrolled Agent (EA) is a plus.
