Job Brief
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Installment Agent to manage and recover delinquent accounts. The ideal candidate will utilize effective communication skills to locate customers, notify them of overdue accounts, and solicit timely payments. This role requires proficiency in account management and a strong understanding of collection processes. The Installment Agent will be responsible for maintaining accurate records of collection activities and account statuses, ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
Responsibilities
- Locate customers with delinquent accounts through various communication methods, including mail, telephone, and personal visits.
- Notify customers of outstanding payments and negotiate repayment plans.
- Receive payments and accurately post amounts to customer accounts in the system.
- Prepare detailed statements for the credit department if customers fail to respond to payment requests.
- Initiate repossession proceedings or service disconnection as necessary, following company policies and legal guidelines.
- Maintain organized records of collection activities and account statuses for reporting purposes.
- Collaborate with team members to develop effective collection strategies and improve recovery rates.
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations governing debt collection practices.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in finance or business is a plus.
- Proven experience in collections, customer service, or a similar role.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to handle difficult conversations professionally.
- Proficient in using collection software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage multiple accounts effectively.
- Knowledge of state and federal collection laws and regulations.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for personal visits as needed.
