Job Brief
The Industrial Plant Custodian is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and orderliness within the facility. This role requires performing heavy cleaning duties, including but not limited to cleaning floors, shampooing carpets, washing walls and windows, and disposing of waste. The ideal candidate will possess strong attention to detail, experience in industrial cleaning, and the ability to perform routine maintenance tasks. This position is vital for ensuring a safe and hygienic environment for all employees and visitors.
Responsibilities
- Perform heavy cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors.
- Shampoo carpets and clean upholstery as needed.
- Wash windows, walls, and surfaces to maintain a high standard of cleanliness.
- Remove rubbish and dispose of waste in compliance with safety standards.
- Tend to furnace and boiler operations as required for facility maintenance.
- Conduct routine maintenance activities and report any repair needs to management.
- Clear snow and debris from sidewalks and entrances to ensure safe access.
- Follow safety protocols and maintain cleaning equipment in good working condition.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Proven experience in industrial cleaning or custodial services.
- Familiarity with cleaning chemicals and proper handling procedures.
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment, such as floor buffers and vacuum cleaners.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- Physical stamina and strength to perform heavy lifting and cleaning tasks.
- Effective communication skills and teamwork abilities.
- Valid driver’s license may be required for transportation of materials.
