Job Brief

As a Lepidopterist, you will conduct in-depth research on butterflies and moths to understand their origins, behaviors, genetics, and diseases. This role requires a solid foundation in wildlife biology, ecology, and environmental science, alongside strong analytical skills to collect and interpret biological data. The ideal candidate will have experience in wildlife management and be proficient in assessing the environmental impacts of land and water use on Lepidoptera habitats.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct field studies to observe and document the behavior and life cycles of butterflies and moths.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret biological data to assess the health and diversity of Lepidoptera populations.
  • Research genetic variations and disease susceptibility in butterfly and moth species.
  • Develop conservation strategies to protect and manage Lepidoptera habitats.
  • Collaborate with environmental scientists and ecologists on habitat restoration projects.
  • Prepare and present research findings to stakeholders, including academic institutions and conservation organizations.
  • Stay informed on current trends and advancements in lepidopterology and wildlife conservation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Entomology, Ecology, Wildlife Biology, or a related field; advanced degrees preferred.
  • Proven experience in field research and data collection methodologies.
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in statistical software and data analysis tools.
  • Familiarity with species identification and ecological assessment techniques.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for reporting and collaboration.
  • Ability to work independently in remote locations and diverse weather conditions.
  • Certifications in wildlife management or conservation are a plus.
