Responsibilities
- Train horses for various activities including riding, pulling harnesses, and performance events.
- Accustom horses to human voices and physical contact through positive reinforcement techniques.
- Condition horses to respond effectively to verbal and non-verbal commands.
- Prepare horses for competition by adhering to industry standards and best practices.
- Train horses to assist persons with disabilities, ensuring safety and comfort.
- Condition horses for pack loads and teamwork, enhancing their functional capabilities.
- Monitor and assess the progress of each horse’s training and adjust methodologies as necessary.
- Maintain a safe and organized training environment in compliance with equestrian standards.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a horse trainer or breaker, with a strong portfolio of trained horses.
- In-depth knowledge of horse behavior, training techniques, and equestrian care.
- Certification in horse training or equine behavior is preferred.
- Strong communication skills to effectively convey commands and training techniques.
- Ability to assess horse temperament and adapt training approaches accordingly.
- Physical stamina and strength to handle large animals safely.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to different training locations as required.
