Job Brief
As a Home Hospice Aide, you will play a crucial role in providing compassionate care and support to individuals with disabilities or chronic illnesses in the comfort of their homes. Your primary responsibilities will include monitoring the health status of patients, addressing their health-related needs, and assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, feeding, and ambulation. This position requires a dedicated individual with a strong understanding of home health care practices and the ability to work under the guidance of licensed nursing staff.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and document the health status of patients, reporting any changes to the nursing staff.
- Assist patients with daily living activities, including bathing, grooming, and toileting.
- Administer prescribed medications and assist with wound care, such as changing bandages.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to patients and their families.
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist with feeding as needed.
- Perform light housekeeping tasks, including laundry and maintaining a clean living environment.
- Help patients with mobility and ambulation to enhance their independence.
- Ensure a safe and comfortable environment for patients and report any safety hazards.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; certification in home health aide training is preferred.
- Previous experience in home health care or hospice care is highly desirable.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective patient interaction.
- Ability to follow care plans and work under the direction of nursing staff.
- Basic knowledge of health and safety standards in home care settings.
- Compassionate and patient-focused approach to caregiving.
- Physical ability to assist patients with mobility and perform light housekeeping tasks.
- CPR and First Aid certification is a plus.
