Job Brief

As a Histologic Technician, you will play a crucial role in performing routine medical laboratory tests that aid in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases. Working under the supervision of a medical technologist, you will prepare tissue samples, perform staining procedures, and utilize advanced laboratory equipment. Responsibilities

  • Prepare and process tissue samples for microscopic examination.
  • Perform routine staining techniques, including Hematoxylin and Eosin (H&E) and special stains.
  • Operate and maintain histology equipment and instruments, ensuring optimal performance.
  • Assist in the documentation and maintenance of laboratory records and reports.
  • Adhere to laboratory safety and quality control protocols to ensure accurate test results.
  • Collaborate with pathologists and other healthcare professionals to support diagnostic processes.
  • Stay updated with advancements in histology techniques and laboratory best practices.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Histologic Technology or a related field; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Certification as a Histotechnician (HT) or Histotechnologist (HTL) from a recognized body.
  • Proficiency in histology laboratory techniques and procedures, including embedding and microtomy.
  • Strong understanding of laboratory safety protocols and quality assurance standards.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Previous experience in a clinical or research laboratory environment is a plus.
