Job Brief
The Gunner’s Mate plays a crucial role in military operations, responsible for targeting, firing, and maintaining various weapons systems used to neutralize enemy positions, aircraft, and vessels. This position requires hands-on experience in operating field artillery, air defense artillery, or naval artillery, with a focus on the safe handling and maintenance of weapons and ammunition. Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain artillery systems, including guns, cannons, howitzers, missiles, and torpedoes.
- Test, inspect, and store ammunition, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and regulations.
- Conduct preventive and routine maintenance on weapons and related equipment to ensure operational readiness.
- Establish and maintain radio and wire communications for effective coordination during operations.
- Utilize weapons targeting, firing, and launch computer systems to execute combat missions efficiently.
- Assist in training personnel on the safe operation and maintenance of artillery systems.
- Participate in drills and exercises to enhance operational readiness and team cohesion.
- Document maintenance activities and operational procedures to maintain accurate records.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; military training in artillery systems preferred.
- Experience with field artillery, air defense systems, or naval weaponry.
- Strong understanding of ammunition types, handling procedures, and safety regulations.
- Ability to operate and troubleshoot complex weapon systems and computer software.
- Excellent communication skills for effective teamwork and coordination.
- Physical fitness and ability to work in high-pressure environments.
- Valid military certification for operating specified weapons systems is a plus.
