Job Brief

The Government Documents Librarian is responsible for administering and maintaining collections of government-related information, ensuring public or private access through reference services and borrowing programs. Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee the acquisition, cataloging, and circulation of government documents and related materials.
  • Provide reference services to assist users in locating and utilizing government information resources.
  • Develop and implement instructional programs to enhance user understanding of government documents.
  • Maintain and update library databases and digital collections, ensuring accuracy and accessibility.
  • Collaborate with educational institutions and organizations to promote government information literacy.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Library Science (MLS) or equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • Experience working with government documents and knowledge of relevant cataloging standards.
  • Proficient in library management systems and digital resource management.
  • Strong research and analytical skills, with a focus on information retrieval techniques.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for user engagement and instruction.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a diverse environment.
