Job Brief
The General Educational Development (GED®) Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction to out-of-school youth and adults seeking to improve their basic education skills and achieve a high school equivalency credential. This role requires proficiency in literacy education, curriculum development, and the ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, along with a passion for helping students succeed in their educational goals.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans focused on GED® test content, including reading, writing, mathematics, and social studies.
- Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to enhance learning outcomes.
- Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and collaboration.
- Utilize a variety of instructional techniques and technologies to accommodate different learning styles.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and progress towards educational goals.
- Provide individualized support to students to address specific learning challenges.
- Collaborate with other educators and community resources to facilitate student success and retention.
- Stay current with GED® testing requirements and educational best practices to ensure effective teaching methods.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Adult Education, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- State certification or licensure in adult education or related subject area.
- Experience teaching adult learners or in a GED® preparation setting.
- Strong knowledge of adult learning principles and educational methodologies.
- Proficiency with educational technology and digital learning platforms.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and foster a positive learning environment.
