Job Brief
The General Educational Development (GED®) Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction to out-of-school youth and adults seeking to improve their basic education skills and achieve a high school equivalency credential. This role requires proficiency in literacy education, curriculum development, and the ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs. Responsibilities
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans focused on GED® test content, including reading, writing, mathematics, and social studies.
- Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to enhance learning outcomes.
- Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and collaboration.
- Utilize a variety of instructional techniques and technologies to accommodate different learning styles.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and progress towards educational goals.
- Provide individualized support to students to address specific learning challenges.
- Collaborate with other educators and community resources to facilitate student success and retention.
- Stay current with GED® testing requirements and educational best practices to ensure effective teaching methods.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Adult Education, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- State certification or licensure in adult education or related subject area.
- Experience teaching adult learners or in a GED® preparation setting.
- Strong knowledge of adult learning principles and educational methodologies.
- Proficiency with educational technology and digital learning platforms.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and foster a positive learning environment.
