The Freight Checker plays a vital role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of inventory management by weighing, measuring, and checking materials, supplies, and equipment. Responsibilities
- Weigh and measure materials and equipment to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Perform detailed inspections and document findings accurately for record-keeping.
- Collect and maintain samples of products or materials for quality assurance purposes.
- Assist in inventory control by updating and managing databases and records.
- Coordinate with warehouse staff to ensure timely processing of materials.
- Generate reports on material quantities and discrepancies for management review.
- Utilize inventory management software to track and report on freight activities.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace to promote safety and efficiency.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications in logistics or inventory management preferred.
- Proven experience in a clerical or inventory-related position, preferably within a warehouse or logistics environment.
- Strong analytical skills with a keen attention to detail for accurate data entry.
- Proficiency in inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced setting.
- Physical ability to lift, weigh, and measure materials as required.
