Job Brief
We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Forest Nursery Worker to assist in the development, maintenance, and protection of vital forest ecosystems. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in manual labor related to forestry, including raising and transporting seedlings, combating harmful pests, and building structures for environmental management. Strong physical stamina, attention to detail, and a passion for environmental conservation are essential for success in this role.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the cultivation and transportation of tree seedlings and plants for reforestation projects.
- Implement pest control measures to combat insects and diseases affecting plant health.
- Participate in planting, watering, and caring for trees and other vegetation in forest nurseries.
- Maintain nursery equipment and tools to ensure optimal working conditions.
- Monitor and report on seedling growth and overall nursery conditions.
- Construct and maintain structures for controlling water, soil erosion, and nutrient leaching.
- Gather non-timber forestry products, such as pine straw, for commercial sale.
- Work collaboratively with forestry teams to support various environmental and conservation projects.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant experience in forestry or horticulture preferred.
- Physical stamina and the ability to perform strenuous outdoor work in various weather conditions.
- Knowledge of tree species, nursery operations, and environmental management practices.
- Familiarity with pest control methods and practices for plant health maintenance.
- Ability to operate basic forestry equipment and tools safely.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality in nursery operations.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
- Valid driver’s license may be required depending on the location of work.
