Job Brief
As a Forensic Social Worker, you will play a critical role in bridging the gap between social work and the legal system. Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients involved in legal matters, identifying their psychological, social, and economic needs.
- Provide counseling and support services to clients facing legal issues, ensuring their emotional well-being throughout the process.
- Collaborate with attorneys, judges, and law enforcement agencies to provide expert insights and recommendations.
- Prepare detailed reports and documentation for court proceedings, articulating findings and recommendations clearly.
- Facilitate communication between clients and legal representatives, ensuring clients understand their rights and options.
- Stay informed about current laws, regulations, and best practices in forensic social work to provide the most effective services.
- Participate in interdisciplinary teams to develop comprehensive service plans for clients.
- Offer crisis intervention services as needed, addressing urgent client needs and immediate risks.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited institution.
- Current state licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in social work, preferably in a forensic or legal context.
- Strong knowledge of legal terminology, court procedures, and social justice issues.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for report writing and courtroom testimony.
- Proficiency in crisis intervention techniques and trauma-informed care practices.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex situations swiftly.
