Job Brief
The Floor Scraper is responsible for expertly scraping and sanding wooden floors to achieve smooth, even surfaces. This role requires proficiency in operating floor scrapers and sanding machines, as well as applying finishing coats to enhance the durability and appearance of wood flooring. Ideal candidates will have hands-on experience in floor preparation and restoration, with a keen eye for detail and craftsmanship.
Responsibilities
- Operate floor scraping and sanding equipment to remove old finishes and imperfections from wooden floors.
- Prepare surfaces by cleaning, scraping, and sanding to ensure optimal adhesion for finishing materials.
- Apply stains, sealants, and finishes to enhance the aesthetic appeal and longevity of wooden floors.
- Inspect floors for damage and recommend necessary repairs or improvements.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition, ensuring safety and efficiency.
- Collaborate with team members to complete projects on time and within budget.
- Adhere to safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Floor Scraper or similar role in the flooring industry.
- Knowledge of various floor types and appropriate finishing techniques.
- Familiarity with operating floor sanding and scraping machines.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality workmanship.
- Ability to lift heavy materials and perform physical labor for extended periods.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to job sites.
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant certifications are a plus.
