Job Brief
We are seeking a skilled Floor Sanding Machine Operator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for scraping and sanding wooden floors to achieve smooth surfaces using a variety of tools, including floor scrapers and sanding machines. This role requires a keen eye for detail, proficiency in applying finishing coats, and experience in floor preparation techniques. Ideal candidates will have hands-on experience in flooring projects and a strong understanding of safety protocols related to floor sanding.
Responsibilities
- Operate floor sanding machines to sand wooden floors to desired smoothness.
- Utilize floor scrapers to remove old finishes and prepare surfaces for sanding.
- Inspect and assess flooring conditions to determine appropriate sanding techniques.
- Apply finishing coats and sealants to enhance the durability of sanded floors.
- Maintain and service sanding equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Adhere to safety protocols and regulations while operating machinery and handling materials.
- Collaborate with team members to complete floor restoration projects efficiently.
- Keep work areas clean and organized, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Floor Sanding Machine Operator or similar role in the flooring industry.
- Strong knowledge of various sanding techniques and finishing processes.
- Familiarity with floor sanding equipment including drum sanders, orbital sanders, and edgers.
- Ability to read and interpret work orders and project specifications.
- Physical stamina and strength to perform manual labor and operate heavy machinery.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality workmanship.
- Valid operator’s license and relevant safety certifications preferred.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
