Job Brief
The Flight Test Mechanic plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and performance of aircraft during flight testing. This position requires diagnosing, adjusting, repairing, and overhauling aircraft engines and assemblies, including hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Ideal candidates will possess extensive experience in aircraft maintenance and a strong understanding of mechanical systems, along with critical problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose mechanical failures and perform necessary repairs on aircraft engines and systems.
- Conduct thorough inspections and tests on hydraulic and pneumatic systems to ensure functionality.
- Overhaul and maintain aircraft components, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
- Collaborate with engineers and test pilots to develop and implement testing procedures.
- Document all maintenance activities and maintain accurate records of repairs and inspections.
- Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues.
- Assist in the assembly and disassembly of aircraft systems during testing phases.
- Stay current with industry standards and advancements in aircraft technology and maintenance practices.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications in aviation maintenance preferred.
- Proven experience as a Flight Test Mechanic or in a similar role within the aviation industry.
- Strong knowledge of aircraft systems, including engines, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Proficiency in using hand tools, diagnostic equipment, and maintenance software.
- Ability to interpret technical manuals and schematics effectively.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Valid driver’s license and, if applicable, FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by testing schedules.
