Job Brief

The Fixed Wing Aircraft Flight Mechanic is responsible for performing in-flight duties that ensure the successful execution of combat, reconnaissance, transport, and search and rescue missions. This role requires a skilled technician with experience in operating aircraft communications and detection equipment, conducting thorough preflight, in-flight, and postflight inspections, and maintaining aircraft weapons and defensive systems. The ideal candidate will possess strong problem-solving abilities, technical expertise, and a commitment to safety in aviation operations.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct preflight, in-flight, and postflight inspections of aircraft and onboard equipment to ensure operational readiness.
  • Operate aircraft communications and detection systems, including establishing satellite linkages and countering enemy communications.
  • Maintain and operate aircraft weapons and defensive systems to support mission objectives.
  • Execute aircraft safety and emergency procedures to safeguard crew and passengers.
  • Compute and verify weight and balance data for passengers, cargo, fuel, and special equipment.
  • Perform in-flight refueling operations and manage related equipment.
  • Conduct cargo and personnel drops in compliance with mission requirements.
  • Collaborate with flight crews and ground personnel to ensure mission success and safety.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; relevant technical certification preferred.
  • Proven experience as a flight mechanic or similar role in fixed-wing aircraft operations.
  • Strong knowledge of aircraft systems, including communications, detection, and weapons systems.
  • Familiarity with safety and emergency procedures in aviation.
  • Ability to perform accurate weight and balance calculations for aircraft operations.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills under pressure.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Valid aviation maintenance technician certification may be required.
