Job Brief
The Fish Hatchery Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of fish hatchery activities, including the breeding, rearing, and health management of aquatic species. Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of hatchery staff to ensure efficient operations and compliance with safety regulations.
- Monitor fish growth, health, and water quality to optimize breeding and rearing conditions.
- Implement and enforce aquaculture best practices and biosecurity measures.
- Conduct training and development programs for staff to enhance skills and knowledge in hatchery operations.
- Maintain records of fish production, health assessments, and inventory management.
- Collaborate with research and development teams to improve hatchery processes and outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to fish farming and environmental sustainability.
- Assist in budget management and resource allocation for hatchery operations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Aquaculture, Fisheries Science, Biology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in fish hatchery management or aquaculture.
- Strong knowledge of aquatic species biology, breeding techniques, and water quality management.
- Proficient in data analysis and record-keeping software for hatchery operations.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Certifications in fish health management, biosecurity, or related areas are a plus.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
- Strong commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship in aquaculture practices.
