Job Brief
The Fermenter is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining fermentation equipment to extract, sort, and separate liquids, gases, or solids in various industrial processes. This role requires a solid understanding of fermentation techniques, equipment operation, and safety protocols. Ideal candidates will possess hands-on experience with continuous flow or vat-type processing systems, as well as a keen eye for detail and quality control.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate fermenting equipment including batch stills, evaporating tanks, and centrifuges.
- Monitor fermentation processes to ensure optimal conditions for product quality and safety.
- Conduct routine maintenance and troubleshooting of fermentation machinery.
- Filter and process materials using filter presses, shaker screens, and scrubbing towers.
- Maintain accurate records of production data, including temperature, pH levels, and yield.
- Implement and adhere to safety and quality control protocols throughout the fermentation process.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve fermentation techniques and product outcomes.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant technical certification preferred.
- Proven experience in operating fermentation or processing equipment.
- Strong understanding of fermentation principles and microbiology.
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues and perform routine maintenance.
- Familiarity with safety standards and quality assurance processes in a manufacturing environment.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills are essential.
