Job Brief
The Electroencephalogram (EEG) Technologist plays a critical role in the diagnosis and management of neurological disorders by performing EEG tests on patients. Responsibilities
- Conduct EEG tests, preparing patients and explaining the procedure to ensure comfort and cooperation.
- Set up and calibrate EEG equipment, ensuring accuracy in readings and data collection.
- Monitor patient responses during testing, documenting any abnormalities or significant events.
- Assist neurologists and other healthcare professionals in interpreting EEG results.
- Maintain and troubleshoot EEG equipment, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Educate patients and their families about EEG procedures, results, and follow-up care.
- Keep accurate records of EEG procedures and patient data for future reference and reporting.
- Stay updated on advancements in EEG technology and best practices in neurodiagnostic procedures.
Requirements
- Associate degree or higher in Electroneurodiagnostic technology or a related field.
- Certification as a Registered Electroencephalographic Technologist (R.EEG.T) is preferred.
- Proven experience in performing EEG tests and familiarity with neurophysiological monitoring.
- Strong knowledge of brain anatomy and neurophysiology.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for patient interaction.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills for data interpretation.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Proficient in electronic health record (EHR) systems and EEG software applications.
