Job Brief
The Electric Utility Lineworker is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of cables and wires utilized in electrical power distribution systems. This role requires hands-on expertise in working with high-voltage power lines, ensuring safety protocols are adhered to at all times. Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair overhead and underground electrical distribution systems.
- Erect and maintain transmission towers and poles to support electrical lines.
- Conduct inspections of electrical systems to ensure they meet safety and operational standards.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical issues, implementing effective solutions promptly.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure timely completion of projects and adherence to safety protocols.
- Respond to emergencies, such as power outages, and restore service efficiently.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.
- Follow all safety regulations and guidelines to minimize risks associated with high-voltage work.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent; completion of a formal lineworker training program is preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., OSHA, CPR, First Aid) are highly desirable.
- Proven experience in electrical linework or a related field.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, safety protocols, and industry best practices.
- Ability to work at heights and in adverse weather conditions.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong physical stamina and ability to lift heavy equipment.
