Job Brief
The Echocardiology Technologist is responsible for producing high-quality ultrasonic recordings of the heart and vascular systems to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular conditions. This role requires proficiency in operating echocardiography equipment, knowledge of cardiac anatomy, and the ability to work collaboratively with healthcare professionals. Successful candidates will possess strong technical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering exceptional patient care.
Responsibilities
- Perform echocardiograms, including transthoracic and transesophageal studies, to evaluate cardiac function.
- Prepare and position patients for echocardiographic procedures, ensuring comfort and safety.
- Operate and maintain echocardiography equipment, adhering to safety protocols and industry standards.
- Analyze and interpret ultrasound images, providing preliminary findings to physicians.
- Document and maintain accurate patient records, including procedures performed and results obtained.
- Assist in the training and mentoring of junior staff and students in echocardiographic techniques.
- Stay updated on advancements in echocardiography technology and best practices.
- Communicate effectively with patients and healthcare team members regarding procedures and results.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in a related field; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Certification as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or equivalent.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in echocardiography or related clinical environment.
- Proficient in operating echocardiographic imaging equipment and related software.
- Strong understanding of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and pathology.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Basic life support (BLS) certification preferred.
