Job Brief
The Dump Truck Driver is responsible for operating a tractor-trailer combination or a truck with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) of at least 26,001 pounds to transport various materials to job sites. This role requires a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) and includes the potential for unloading trucks as needed. Candidates should possess a strong understanding of safe driving practices, vehicle maintenance, and the ability to navigate diverse terrains. Proven experience in the transportation industry and effective communication skills are essential for success in this position.
Responsibilities
- Operate dump trucks and tractor-trailer combinations safely and efficiently
- Transport construction materials, aggregates, and other loads to designated locations
- Unload materials at sites using appropriate equipment and techniques
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safety and compliance
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage, and fuel consumption
- Adhere to all traffic laws and safety regulations while on the road
- Perform routine maintenance on vehicles and report any mechanical issues
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and site personnel regarding delivery schedules and requirements
Requirements
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements
- Minimum of [X] years of experience driving heavy trucks or dump trucks
- Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and safety standards
- Ability to operate heavy machinery and equipment safely
