Job Brief
As a Drug Counselor, you will play a pivotal role in supporting individuals struggling with substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction, as well as other behavioral issues such as gambling and eating disorders. You will provide comprehensive counseling services to individuals, families, and groups, while also engaging in prevention programs aimed at reducing substance misuse. Responsibilities
- Conduct assessments and evaluations of clients’ substance use and behavioral issues.
- Develop and implement personalized treatment plans based on clients’ needs and goals.
- Provide individual and group counseling sessions, focusing on coping mechanisms and life skills.
- Facilitate support groups and educational workshops on addiction and recovery.
- Maintain accurate and confidential client records, documenting progress and treatment outcomes.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals and community resources to ensure comprehensive care.
- Monitor client progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary to optimize recovery outcomes.
- Advocate for clients’ needs and assist with referrals to external support services.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
- State licensure or certification as a Drug Counselor or Substance Abuse Counselor.
- Proven experience in counseling individuals with substance use disorders.
- Strong knowledge of addiction recovery models and treatment methodologies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with clients.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards.
- Familiarity with community resources and support networks for addiction recovery.
- Proficient in using electronic medical records and case management software.
