Job Brief

The Dimmer Board Operator is a critical role responsible for setting up, maintaining, and dismantling lighting equipment for photography, television, film, video, and live productions. This position requires a strong understanding of lighting control devices, electrical rigging, and the ability to operate light fixtures effectively. Ideal candidates will possess experience in a live production environment and a passion for creating captivating visuals through advanced lighting techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and configure lighting fixtures and control systems for various productions.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot lighting equipment to ensure optimal performance during events.
  • Operate dimmer boards and lighting control software to achieve desired lighting effects.
  • Collaborate with production teams to determine lighting requirements and design concepts.
  • Attach color filters, gels, and other accessories to light fixtures as needed.
  • Dismantle and pack lighting equipment post-production, ensuring proper storage and maintenance.
  • Assist in the rigging and safety inspections of all lighting and electrical equipment.
  • Stay current with industry trends and advancements in lighting technology.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Dimmer Board Operator or similar role in live events and productions.
  • Strong knowledge of lighting control systems and dimmer boards.
  • Familiarity with electrical systems and safety protocols in a production environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret lighting plots and technical drawings.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities to work effectively with diverse production teams.
  • Certification in electrical safety or relevant lighting technology is a plus.
  • Flexibility to work long hours and adapt to changing production schedules.
