Job Brief

The Diesel Engine Fitter is responsible for diagnosing, adjusting, repairing, and overhauling diesel engines in buses and trucks, as well as maintaining and repairing a variety of diesel engine types. This role requires a strong background in diesel mechanics, with hands-on experience in troubleshooting and repairing both automotive and marine diesel engines. Ideal candidates should possess a keen attention to detail, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose engine malfunctions and conduct thorough inspections to determine necessary repairs.
  • Perform maintenance and repair tasks on diesel engines, including buses, trucks, and marine vessels.
  • Overhaul and rebuild diesel engines, ensuring all components function optimally.
  • Adjust engine components and systems to enhance performance and efficiency.
  • Utilize diagnostic equipment to identify issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs and maintenance performed on diesel engines.
  • Collaborate with other mechanics and technicians to optimize repair processes.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and regulations while working in the shop and on-site.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Diesel Engine Fitter or similar role in the automotive or marine industry.
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engine mechanics, systems, and components.
  • Technical certification in diesel mechanics or related field is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and machinery related to diesel engine repair.
  • Ability to interpret technical manuals and schematics.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to operate heavy machinery is preferred.
