Job Brief
As a Data Center Operator, you will be responsible for overseeing and maintaining the efficient operation of data center facilities. This role requires hands-on experience with hardware systems, network infrastructure, and data management tools. You will ensure optimal performance, reliability, and security of servers and data storage systems. Key skills include troubleshooting, system monitoring, and a strong understanding of data center best practices.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and maintain data center equipment, including servers, storage devices, and networking hardware.
- Perform regular system checks and troubleshoot hardware and software issues to ensure minimal downtime.
- Implement and maintain data backup and disaster recovery procedures.
- Assist with the installation and configuration of new servers and equipment.
- Manage inventory and ensure proper documentation of all data center assets.
- Collaborate with IT teams to optimize performance and implement upgrades.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and security protocols.
- Provide technical support and training to staff on data center operations and best practices.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Proven experience as a Data Center Operator or in a similar technical role.
- Strong knowledge of server hardware, networking protocols, and data center management.
- Familiarity with virtualization technologies and cloud computing platforms.
- Experience with monitoring tools and performance analysis.
- Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Server+, Cisco CCNA, or equivalent are a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks effectively.
