Job Brief

As a Corrections Sergeant, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and coordinating the daily activities of correctional officers and jailers within a correctional facility. Responsibilities

  • Implement and enforce institutional policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
  • Provide training, mentorship, and support to staff to enhance their performance and professional development.
  • Respond to incidents and emergencies, utilizing conflict resolution techniques and de-escalation strategies.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to inmate activities, staff performance, and incidents.
  • Collaborate with other departments and law enforcement agencies to ensure effective inmate management.
  • Participate in the development of operational procedures and strategies for facility improvements.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in Criminal Justice or related field preferred.
  • Proven experience in a correctional environment, with a minimum of 3 years in a supervisory role.
  • Valid state certification as a law enforcement officer or corrections officer.
  • Strong knowledge of correctional policies, security protocols, and inmate management strategies.
  • Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work in a high-stress environment and manage difficult situations with professionalism.
  • Proficiency in computer software applications related to corrections management.
